Cats can fall from a very high distance.

Multiple sources confirm that cats have a remarkable ability to survive falls from great heights, sometimes even from dozens of stories. This is largely due to their ability to reach terminal velocity quickly, which limits the speed at which they fall, and their flexible skeletal structure that helps absorb impact. Cats also spread their bodies during a fall to increase air resistance, slowing their descent.

However, this does not mean cats can survive any height without injury. Medical reports and veterinary sources document cases of serious injuries such as broken bones, concussions, and internal trauma from high falls. The phenomenon known as 'high-rise syndrome' describes the injuries cats sustain from falling out of tall buildings.

While cats have better survival odds than many animals or humans in similar situations, falls from extreme heights still pose significant risks.
