The subpoena followed a July 2025 vote by an Oversight subcommittee. That vote was reported as an 8-2 decision to subpoena the department, so it should not be confused with the later issuance of the subpoena by the committee’s chairman. The wording is temporally dated. The subpoena was issued in August 2025, not near the current date of Sept. 4, 2026. By Sept. 2, 2025, the committee said it had released 33,295 pages of Epstein-related records provided by the Justice Department.
